Major Cork Tourism Promotion in Chicago,
March 2007
A delegation of leading local government and tourism professionals from County Cork will travel to Chicago, March 15 – 19, 2007, to introduce the Cork Collection, a tourism promotion in conjunction with the St Patrick’s Day celebrations in the Windy City.
The Cork delegation, hosted by Cook County President Todd H. Stroger and the Partners with Ireland Committee, will undertake a series of intensive promotions in Chicago. During their stay, they will highlight the many reasons Cork County is a ‘must see’ for the visitor to Ireland.
Wearing the colors of Cork County over the St Patrick’s weekend, the group plans to add a little red to a sea of green as they march in the Chicago St Patrick’s Day Parade. They will also visit with key tour operators and travel agents to highlight the benefits of visiting Ireland’s largest and most diverse County.
The new County Manager, Martin Riordan, said “There has been enormous growth and development in the infrastructure and tourism product in Cork. We have attracted international hotel brands and have many new hotels and resorts. This, along with a new convention bureau, and major investment in our international airport has us primed for tourism growth. But, tourism is all about the visitor, and the visitor’s experience, and with a culture steeped in tradition, and of course, the warmest of welcomes, Cork County represents the best in the Southwest of Ireland.”
