Cork Golf Club
The large undulating greens at Cork Golf Club immediately put the observant in mind of Augusta National, the revered home of the U.S. Masters. And of course there is very good reason for this. Alaister MacKenzie the Scottish doctor, who turned his back on medicine to dedicate himself to building some of the world’s finest golf courses was the designer of both. The superb greens are MacKenzie’s work and are one of the many features of Cork Golf Club’s layout. The putting surface at the 7th is just one delightful example of what the great man achieved in Cork.
The tee for this one is on the shore of the river and anyone wishing to reach the green in tow must attempt the longest possible carry across water on the drive!
