Three day business network visit with Cook County delegates a huge success

The purpose of the visit was to position Cork as the centre of bio-technology for key decision makers in Illinois and to facilitate continued investment in the Cork region.
The Illinois delegation led by the Lieutenant Governor, Pat Quinn, presented very significant market opportunities for Cork companies and visited UCC, CIT and other centres of research and educational excellence in the region.
County Manager, Martin Riordan said, " the primary purpose of the mission is to lay the framework for greater bilateral trade and investment opportunities. We believe now is the perfect time for Cork to showcase developments made in the county in the biosciences over the past number of years. Our visitors from Illinois bring with them key insights for the progression of this area and we hope to learn from their experiences during this visit."
The Mayor of Cork County Cllr Tom Sheahan and Lieutenant Governor of Illinois Pat Quinn also signed a twinning agreement of the River Lee and Illinois River.
